You are currently living in Canada. We don’t know if you can easily obtain your certificate in Canada or if you will have to ask a family member in your home country to file a request on your behalf.
We recommend you to bring your certificate before you come to Canada.
If your certificate is not in English or French, you also need to upload an additional document that translates it into English or French by the Government of Canada-accredited or a Manitoba-accredited translation company or translator with your original certificate.
Fortunately, MPNP does not require you to mail original documents. You just upload files like PDF. This means that you do not need to have the documents shipped to Canada from your home country. You just receive the converted documents to PDF from your family through email.
Common-Law
Canada allows Common-Law as almost the same status as a legal married person.
Please read the official site:
In the case of a Common-Law, it is difficult to get an official document issued by a governmental body to prove the relationship. Therefore, you will need to upload proof that you were in a common-law relationship for at least 1 year.
For example, a Resident Tenancy Agreement signed in two people’s names, a record of email or social networking messages with definite date of transmission, or a photograph of the couple with definite date of photography.
Conclusions about document arrangements
It is possible that you might need these certificates for situations other than applying for MPNP or Federal.
Translations alone can be arranged in Canada with no problem, however, we think the original documents are difficult to obtain. It is advisable to come to Canada with a number of documents, just in case.
Education
Please input Secondary (High School) and Post-Secondary (including University, College, and Apprenticeship training) information that applicant (you) or/and your spouse have attended.
If applicable, you need to upload your Degree, Diploma or Certificate and Transcript from their institutions you have graduated.
On the contrary, if you have never attended any of the above-mentioned educational institutions in neither your home country nor in Canada, you are not required to input.
The issue date of these certificates does not matter. If you graduated from their institutions in your country, it is a good idea to obtain the documents before you come to Canada.
If you did not bring their documents when you came to Canada, you will need to ask your family in your home country to request the documents on your behalf, just as you would with your marriage certificate.
In this case, you just receive the converted documents to PDF from your family through email as same as your marriage certificate.
The documents must be issued in English or French by their institutions. If the documents was issued in your mother tongue, you will need to upload additional documents of translation into English or French by the Government of Canada-accredited or a Manitoba-accredited translation company or translator.
Language School
If you attended an English or a French language school in Canada and were issued a certificate of completion or transcript from that school, enter the language school information and upload the certificate.
MPNP application asks if you have learned English or French as a second language. If you have learned, you will be asked to enter the study period.
Applying for a language school record is not mandatory, however it is proof of your study period.
Employment
About “Employment”
Documents
If you are currently working, have your employer issue the following documents to you.
- Certificate of Employment
- Job Offer
“Job Offer” is necessary before actually working, however there is an idea that creating “Job Offer” is non-sense if you are currently working.
In fact, some applicants were requested by MPNP for additional uploads when they did not submit the Job Offer, and some applicants were not requested.
It seems to vary from MPNP examiner to examiner. The general consensus is that it’s not clear in the end. To be sure, it’s a good idea to upload both documents in advance.
In addition, since this is a Job Offer while you are working, you should ask your employer to write “This is an offer of continued employment for currently employed you”.
The documents you will have prepared should contain the following information.
- Employer’s name and signature
- Your name (with or without signature)
- Employment (contact) address, phone number, and email address
- Date of starting work
- Date of creation of the document
- Job title (NOC and Description)
- Duties
- Salary
If you work in a position listed on “Manitoba In-Demand Occupations Lists”, you should definitely ask your employer to write a National Occupational Classification (NOC) and a Description.

Employment Status Check
As your application is reviewed by MPNP, you will receive a phone call from MPNP to confirm that you are actually working for your employer at the contact number you applied for.
As a general rule of thumb, you should receive a phone call approximately three to four weeks after you apply for MPNP.
There are two ways to confirm your employment status: one is to contact your employer only, and the other is to call you on behalf of the applicant. Which confirmation will depend on MPNP representative.
After this phone confirmation, MPNP review often goes through approximately 2-3 weeks later.
In fact, in our case, there was no phone confirmation.
The day after our MPNP application, MPNP representative emailed our employer to confirm our employment status. 2020-year will see an increase in remote work due to the coronavirus and the tendency to work from home rather than from the office.
The prevailing theory is that since they are contacting MPNP applicants’ employers from home, they are switching to email contact to avoid calling from a self-owned phone number.
In our case, MPNP review went through approximately four weeks after the employer responded to our email to MPNP.
Application History
All visas from applicant’s (your) and spouse’s entry into Canada up to the present are required to be uploaded. Please be sure to check.
If you don’t have past visas on hand, look for receipts and other relevant documents.
If you have applied for a visa renewal on your own, you can login to your IRCC account. You should be able to download some records or documents related to your visa renewal or take a screenshot of the screen with your application number.
You can’t be absolutely sure that you’ll be okay uploading these documents, however it’s possible that MPNP will consider them.
Relatives & Friends
If you have a family member, relative, or close friend in Canada, input that information.
We don’t have any acquaintances or relatives in Canada, so we were not applicable.

Language Proficiency Test
If you have taken a language proficiency test in the last 2 years, please input the test type and the scores, and upload your score-report.
If you have a job title with a Skill Level: NOC 0, A, or B listed on “Manitoba In-Demand Occupations”, you are not required to input your test scores. You don’t need to take the test.
Applicants who are required to take the test are in a job title that is not listed on “Manitoba In-Demand Occupation”. (e.g. : Skill Level: NOC C or D). The score is Overall: CLB4 or higher.
“Manitoba In-Demand Occupations” has a Minimum CLB applied to each job titles. Therefore, you are supposed to be at the minimum listed CLB level.
Even though you don’t need to input the test scores, you might want to take the test and prove that you have the scores above Minimum CLB level. In fact, most applicants seem to take the test and input the test scores.
If you are applying for “International Education Stream”, you need to input the scores of Overall: CLB7 or higher, no matter what profession you are in.
