MPNP Part-03 What is “EOI Ranking Points”?

MPNP (ENG ver)

Hi there!

In this article, we’d like to introduce the details of the Expression of Interest (EOI), which is the first step in applying for MPNP (Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program).

Step-1 Expression of Interest (EOI)

Actually, NOT everyone will able to apply for MPNP right away.

First of all, MPNP applicants must declare their intention to obtain Canadian permanent residence with MPNP.

This manifestation of intention is called an Expression of Interest (EOI). You need to apply for EOI via online. EOI application fee is Free.

The right to enter MPNP is determined by EOI; only applicants selected by EOI are eligible to apply for MPNP.

It can be said that it is a system like the one shown below:

  • Primary Screening: EOI
  • Main Screening: MPNP

EOI Ranking System

MPNP holds a drawing (selection) called EOI Draw every other Thursday.

MPNP calculates EOI Ranking Points from the applicant’s profile created during EOI application. Applicants with the highest EOI Ranking Points will receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) by email, awarding them the right to apply for MPNP, in the order of their EOI Ranking Points.

The official page does NOT announce how many people LAA is sent to. Only “the number of applicants” and “the minimum number of points” for those who have earned the right are published.

The minimum number of points are different each drawing, however it seems that the approximate points are around 500.

If an applicant is not selected for this EOI Draw, he/she will be carried over to the next EOI Draw. The automatic duration of EOI Draw is up to 1 year.
